The CRJ Social Action Committee has begun the project, "Sneakers That Fit 2014, in memory of Dr. Barry Levin." This project allows CRJ to purchase sneakers for children from designated Title I schools. This year the schools have identified almost 200 children in grades K-5 in dire need We need your help in fulfilling this task. . Please see the bulletin board near the Goldman Social Hall to choose a card or multiple cards to shop for a specific child or use the donation envelopes provided. All donations, both shoes and dollars are due to the synagogue office by December 5. We are grateful for your participation!

Every year the CRJ, through the Social Action committee, partners with UPS, and Toasted Restaurant to help Senior's First by delivering Meals on Wheels on Christmas Day. What a wonderful treat for needy Seniors to receive a hot meal on Christmas Day. Over and over, we get reports from volunteer drivers telling us how fulfilling this activity has been for them. It is truly a wonderful Mitzvah! Each year we deliver around 500 meals and need about 65 volunteers drivers. Each route takes about 1 hour, and all meals are picked up at CRJ Christmas morning. It is a good idea to have 2 people per car, so that one can navigate. If you are interested in helping this year, please contact Becky Welch at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible! Thank you for your help and support.
The Volunteer and Social Action Committees are compiling an email list of CRJ congregants who might be willing to volunteer for CRJ or our partners in the community from time to time when the need arises. Volunteering through CRJ is a great way to get to know more fellow congregants and to make a difference at CRJ and in the community. At CRJ, this may include assisting with set up and other needs for Shabbat dinners, onegs and events, temple cleanup, mailings, help with cooking for the homeless, preparation for Meals on Wheels on Christmas Day, telephoning members, etc. In the community, it may include donating items needed by organizations helping people in need; volunteering at a community organization's event; and other activities to benefit nonprofit community groups and the people they serve. Please email Cathy Lieblich at email@example.com if you would like to be on this list. It will not commit you to any specific volunteer request.
